celebrating halloween melbourne styles

thanks to everyone who came out on a dreadful-weather-but-very-melbourne night. everyone put in so much effort in dressing up for the party. i can't remember the last time i celebrated halloween, and honestly this might have been my first time. but i had so much fun!

i ended up dressing up as katy perry with the blue hair. however, i kept eating my wig so i took it off pretty fast.

once again, thank you everyone for making it. :)

halloween idea #3: you don't make friends with salad but....

you could make friends with fruit....

i was looking around at american apparel yesterday and came across this costume.

original yet simple. i love it. it consists of balloons stuck onto a sweater dress and coloured opaque tights.

it's only a few days till halloween and i have barely prepared for my own costume.

halloween idea #2: anna dello russo

images from jak&jil

while black and tiny masks were the trend this year at the masquerade ball celebrating vogue paris' 90th anniversary, anna del russo went all out. her ball gown is by pucci, head piece by gareth pugh and her muse for this outfit was lady gaga. if you want to make an entrance, this would be it.

i don't think this is the halloween outfit for me, but everytime i look at that picture, all i can think about is how that ball gown would make the perfect wedding dress.

anna del russo is the fashion director at large at vogue nippon and has become an internet fashion sensation, thanks to bloggers like tommy ton and garance dore. i always wondered if she lived in japan as she's always photographed in her suite at the paris ritz. it seems like her job is by correspondence as she says she spends a lot of the time on the phone with her japanese phone team.

adr's second choice for the masquerade ball:

gown by valentino

i'm so glad she didn't choose to wear this because i reckon this is way too similar to carine roitfield's gown. awkard.

halloween idea #1: lady gaga's bubble dress

i have never really celebrated halloween living in australia. however, this year three friends and i have decided to throw a halloween combined birthday shin-dig. i'm really looking forward to this as i have never been very enthusiastic when i attend a dress-up party, but all of a sudden, i have a great desire to play dress-ups and be someone else for a night.
"Halloween is the one night a year when girls can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it." - Cady from Mean Girls.
well i don't intend to wear underwear and wear some sort of animal ears, but the past few days i have been trying to find an appropriate outfit for the birthday shin-dig.

idea #1: lady gaga's bubble dress

do-it-yourself lady gaga bubble dress - bubbles sold on ebay here.

the lady herself in the infamous bubble dress:

unfortunately, it's a diy project and i don't think i have enough time or patience to sew 100 acrylic balls onto a body stocking. so i think i have to keep searching. if you have made this costume yourself, please link me to a photo. i would love to see the finished product.
